I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. Throughout my career as a civil engineer I have had the opportunity to travel extensively around the world. South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, where I currently live and work.

My first contact with the world of image and frame was with a super8 movie camera at a very young age. Countless films and long weeks of waiting patiently for my developed films to arrive from the Kodak labs in Germany. Followed by quick screening and then montaging. What a thrill!

My photographic journey began later, with a toy camera given to me by my father when I was just a little boy. I cherished this present for many years. As a student at the university I got an SLR which was a revelation to me, all at once the technical limitations of the toy camera disappeared. I immersed myself in black-and-white film, the magic of the dark-room and the numerous experiments with improvised filters.

My initial contact with digital photography was with a Casio in the early 1990s. Despite the poor quality, the immediacy of digital photography captivated me. Relatively quickly and after a series of compact cameras I opted for a NIKON DSLR.

Another milestone in my journey, was to shooting exclusively in manual mode. Using manual (combined with black-and-white process) enabled me to grasp light, shapes, see and visualize the world from a different perspective, and try to capture it this way.

Participating in photography seminars and workshops during the first decade of the 2000s, helped me to improve my technical skills as well as broaden my knowledge of Art theory in general. During that time, I participated in four group exhibitions. Actively taking part in all stages of the preparations for the exhibitions was enlightening, thus I became familiar with a variety of new aspects such as photo selection, printing in large format, lighting, settings and choice of background music etc.

Moving permanently to the Middle East and the extensive travelling this entailed, forced me to turn to using and experimenting with any small size photographic equipment available (compact and action cameras, and mobiles).

Since 2014 I have been using mirror-less Fuji cameras, whose ergonomics are similar to film cameras. Since 2016, by appointing me as one of the company’s global ambassadors, Fuji has acknowledged my influence and contribution to the international photographic community.
