“Photography started as a hobby, which turned into a means to escape everyday reality, only to evolve into a passion. I started by simply capturing what my eyes could see, but the Middle East and the unique desert landscape changed me.
Gradually, the mere depiction of the scenery transformed into a hunt. Armed with my camera, chasing the light in the golden sand, chasing the swirling air in the sand dunes which sings only for those who are ready to hear it. Chasing shadows where genies hide, where magic carpets fly, and Bedouin’s tell stories around the camp fire.
I no longer capture what the eye of the visitor and tourist see. With every sand dune comes a story, with every whistle of the wind comes a song, and with every shadow in the soul comes a fairy tale. These are what I am looking for, a world long gone, a shadow of the world lost in the dawn of time.
I am a great fan of black and white, but due to the simplicity of the desert landscape I have often found myself using color in my photos. Besides in this scenery, only two colors are available, the blue of the sky and the gold of the sand. I am not aware how long my quest will last, but I hope that my photographs will be as enjoyable to you as they are to me.”
